The four options at a glance
| Option | What it does | Typical cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do it yourself | You work through photos, menu order, descriptions, prep times and ratings using each app's own rules | Free, plus your time | Owners with time who know what to look for |
| Delivery management software | Brings orders from all apps into one tablet or your till, and manages menus and stock across them | Monthly subscription; Deliverect's UK plans start from £79 a month, and they quote for your set-up | Busy kitchens on several apps that are drowning in tablets |
| Full management agency | Runs your listings, promotions and sometimes marketing on an ongoing basis | Usually a monthly fee or a share of sales; few publish prices, so ask for a quote | Multi-site or high-volume operators who want it handed off |
| Audit and support (e.g. Restaurant Hero) | Checks your listings against what the platforms rank on, tells you what to fix first, and helps you make the changes, or makes them for you | Restaurant Hero: free diagnostic, £199 one-off audit, £500 audit and fix; monthly support quoted | Anyone who wants to know what's wrong, and get help fixing it, before committing to more |
Doing it yourself
The platforms publish more than most owners realise about how they rank restaurants, so the DIY route is real. It costs nothing but time, and the work is mostly photos, menu order, descriptions, prep times and replying to reviews. Our checklist for getting more orders sets it out step by step. The catch is knowing which fix matters most for your listing, which is where the other three options come in.
Delivery management software
Tools such as Deliverect connect the apps to your till or a single tablet, sync menus and help with reporting. That saves time and errors, which can help ratings. But software doesn't decide what your photos, menu order or descriptions should be, so it won't fix a listing that customers scroll past.
A full management agency
An agency handles your listings for you over months. It can make sense if you're running several sites or simply don't have the hours. Before you sign, ask:
- What exactly will you change in the first month, and how will I see the results?
- Is the fee fixed, or a share of my sales?
- How long is the contract, and what's the notice period?
- Will I keep access to my partner accounts throughout?
- Can you show me named results from restaurants like mine?
A one-off audit and fix
An audit looks at your listing the way a customer and the platform's ranking would, and gives you a ranked list of fixes. If the problems are simple, you fix them yourself. If not, you know exactly what to ask for help with.
Restaurant Hero vs delivery software vs a management agency
Software such as Deliverect and a support service like Restaurant Hero do different jobs. Software runs your orders. We work on why customers do or don't order from you in the first place.
| Delivery software (e.g. Deliverect) | Management agency | Restaurant Hero | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main job | Brings orders from every app into one tablet or your till, and keeps menus and stock in sync | Runs your listings, offers and sometimes marketing for you over months | Finds what's costing you orders on each app and helps you fix it |
| Checks photos, descriptions, prices and position against nearby rivals | Not its job | Depends on the agency | Yes: every app you're on, plus Google, against your strongest local rival |
| Help from a person while you make changes | Software support | Usually, as part of the fee | Yes: WhatsApp and call support with the £199 audit, then a re-audit once changes are live |
| Can do the work for you | No | Yes | Yes, if you want it: £500 audit and fix, or monthly support |
| Cost | Deliverect's UK plans start from £79 a month; the full price depends on your set-up | Usually a monthly fee or a share of sales; few publish prices | Free diagnostic; £199 one-off audit; £500 audit and fix across every app (no VAT); monthly support quoted |
| Contract | Monthly subscription | Varies; check the notice period | None on the audit, no retainer on the audit and fix |
Can you use both? Yes, and many restaurants should. Software keeps your menus the same on every app; we tell you what those menus, photos and prices should be, so customers choose you.
Where Restaurant Hero fits
Restaurant Hero is a specialist in Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats listings for UK and Irish restaurants, not a general marketing agency or a software company. You send the public link to your listing, with no login needed, and within 24 to 48 hours you get a free diagnostic: scores for visibility, trust and conversion, and the 3 to 5 fixes worth doing first. If you want to go deeper, the Full Listing Audit is £199, one-off, with no contract, and includes WhatsApp and call support while you make the changes. If you'd rather not do the changes yourself, our Audit + fix is £500: we run the audit and make every change for you, then we can look after your listings every month. See services and pricing, or get your free diagnostic.
