Deliveroo photo guidelines: sizes, rules and what gets rejected

Updated 1 October 2026 · 3 minute read

Photos are one of the cheapest fixes on Deliveroo, and Deliveroo's Hub now tracks how many of your items have them. Here are Deliveroo's own rules, so your photos get approved first time.

Short answer: Deliveroo asks for landscape JPEGs up to 8MB: hero images at least 1920 x 1080 pixels and menu item images at least 1200 x 675. Hero images should show at least five different dishes. Photos with hands, faces, text, watermarks or raw ingredients around the dish can be rejected, and AI-generated images aren't allowed.

FormatJPEG, landscape, up to 8MB

Hero images

  • Show at least five different dishes, so customers see the range of your menu.
  • Let the food fill most of the frame, with only a small margin at the edges.
  • Keep it food-first: the main dish in the centre, no text-heavy graphics or large logos.

Menu item images

  • Keep the dish centred and show the whole plate.
  • Use natural light to avoid reflections and dark shadows.

Common reasons photos get rejected

  • Hands or faces in the shot.
  • Text or watermarks.
  • Raw ingredients scattered around the dish.
  • AI-generated images. Deliveroo only allows authentic photos of your food.

Why it's worth doing

Deliveroo's Hub measures Menu Completeness, based on items with photos and descriptions. Deliveroo also offers a professional photography service for partners. For how to take the photos with just a phone, see food photos for delivery apps. If you'd rather know which photos would make the biggest difference first, send us your listing.
